The latest stimulus proposal from the Obama administration hopes to do for the weatherization industry what Cash for Clunkers did for car sales. Known as Cash for Caulkers, the program promises increased tax credits for home owners who make energy saving improvements to their home.
DAP Products has set up a website www.sealyourhome.info to help homeowners influence their state legislators to get the program going. In addition, the site points homeowners to energy efficiency projects they can do on their own and information on the specifics of using the 2009 Energy Efficiency tax credit for savings.
www.energystar.gov gives detailed information on the recent changes to the tax code and how you can use it this year for your home improvement projects. Additionally, as of December 16, 2009, the Department of Energy approved 54 State & Territory Rebate plans for the purchase of Energy Star appliances.
There are ample opportunities right now for homeowners to financially benefit from making their homes more energy efficient. The Cash for Caulkers program will add even more.
