Home Improvement

Safety First!0

I’m sure many of you can join me in telling a few tales of home improvement disasters.  My most recent involved a mysterious beam in my kitchen that was haphazardly nailed to another beam at a bizarre angle.  I pulled on it slightly and caved in half of my ceiling.  I was amazed that it had held as long as it had – roughly 30 years.  All I can figure is that the code must have been a lot different in the 1970s than it is now if that beam passed inspection.

At least I didn’t get hurt, which is more than I can say for these folks.  Don’t turn it off until you see the guy who got hit with the brick on his head. Ouch – body armour might have been a good idea!
