Harrison Ford: Movie Star, Carpenter0

Before he was a screen legend, Harrison Ford was a carpenter.  Working as a skilled craftsman, he believes, has proved beneficial in his work as an actor, too.

Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser in their new movie Extraordinary Measures.

Ford recently told, “When I was a carpenter, I once worked with this Russian lady architect. I would tell her, ‘Look, I’m terribly sorry, but I want to change that a half inch,’ and she would say, ‘No limit for better.’  I think that is a worthy credo. You keep on going until you get it as close to being right as the time and patience of others will allow.”

Ford treats his acting jobs as a similar craft – an approach that nobody can argue hasn’t paid off.  Ford has starred in some the biggest movies of the last 5 decades, including Star Wars Trilogy, the Indian Jones movies and Blade Runner.  His latest film, Extraordinary Measures, opened around the country this past weekend.   Based on a true story,  Ford portrays an unconventional and under appreciated doctor who works with  parents (Brendan Fraser and Keri Russell) of two terminally ill children to start a biotech company and find a cure for the disease that threaten the kids.  Catch a clip of the film below.
