I wish getting my kids to eat vegetables was as easy as changing a light bulb or tightening a screw. Celebrity mom Jennie Garth seems to have the answer: If you grow it, they will come. Her new original web series Garden Party premiered on iVillage last week.
Garth, of Beverly Hills, 90210 and What I Like About You fame, infuses her bubbly personality and experience as a mom into the series to make the information come alive for gardeners who want to add vegetables to the backyard and families who have access to community farms in their neighborhoods.
“I saw this series as an opportunity to help inspire, educate and motivate families like mine,” said Garth. “I found out that incorporating vegetables into your families’ life is not only healthy but can be fun too.”
Garden Party celebrates a new vegetable each month. Garth meets with farmers, chefs, moms and kids to find new and exciting ways to get kids and families closer to the source of their food. From planting cucumbers at home, to visiting a kid’s cooking school, to taking a tour of a family farm, Garden Party is bountiful harvest of great ideas.
Garth also shares her own experience with rich interactive elements including a “Cook and Tell” cookbook, a “What’s For Dinner” meal planner, and an opportunity for moms to tell their veggie stories.
