Ruche0

Designed by Inga Sempé for Ligne Roset , the Ruché Sofa combines sparse décor with functionality.

Inspired by the pleated fabric often seen in clothing like this skirt, the innovative ruched cushion on this couch wraps around the thin frame of the bench.

Various versions of this sofa are available, including two- and three-seaters.  My favorite is the one-arm settee, in which part of the bench becomes a table.  I’m something of a slob and my coffee table is usually  loaded up with stuff (currently a bunch of X-Box games, some DVDs, a wrapper of saltines, Stephen King’s Wizard and Glass, and a bunch of my girlfriend’s paperwork).  That extra little space would come in handy – until it gets crapped up, too.

While I like the idea, I’m not sure how I feel about the look of the Ruché Sofa.  The padding looks a lot like those foam egg crate mattress pads —only thicker.  Not the most attractive association for me.  It would probably be quite comfy, though.  And maybe that’s all that really matters.
