Many of you may still be scrambling to pull together taxes. In that haste, it’s easy to forget important write-offs, especially if they are embedded in walls and/or basements. However, there are Federal Tax credits for energy-efficient appliances.
OK — that super-loud, leaky air conditioner that you sat in front of all last summer probably won’t apply. However, if you took on the daunting task this year of replacing your water heater, windows, roof, or something similar, you may be looking at a nice little windfall from Energy Star.
Please note, not all products with an ENERGY STAR are eligble for a tax credit. Take a look at the website for a list of what may apply, as well as requirements and information on how to get your chunk o’ change.
And don’t worry. If you haven’t managed to motivate yet, we understand. Some of those projects are a big time (and money) commitment. No need to bang your head against the wall just yet. Congress actually extended those credits through the end of this year—and some as far out as 2016. Check the site for more information.
