Power tools put some extra elbow into any project, but the tradeoff is often being tethered to the closest outlet, which sometimes isn’t all that convenient. Now, DEWALT plans to cut the cords on some of your favorite power tools, with its new 12 Volt MAX Lithium Ion line.
Put away your miles of extension cord. This new platform includes
- a 1/4-inch Screwdriver,
- a 3/8-inch Drill/Driver,
- a 1/4-inch Impact Driver,
- a 3/8-inch Impact Wrench,
- a LED Work Light,
- an Inspection Camera,
- an Infrared Thermometer,
- and two combo kits.
Each product comes packing a lithium ion battery that sits at the bottom of the handle for a nice, sturdy grip. Even more convenient, it charges up in a mere 40 minutes.
Aside from the mobility factor, each of the new tools features a little upgrade that should make other DIYers jealous. For instance, there are LED lights on the screwdriver for improved visibility and a removable screen on the inspection camera that allows it to squeeze into tight spaces.
The DEWALT team also spent a lot of time studying anthropometric guides to learn all about different hand shapes as sizes. That means whether your digits are dainty or burly, you shouldn’t have any problem working these power tools.
DEWALT says that the 12 Volt MAX platform should start shipping before the end of the year. Expect products to cost between $139 and $299, depending on the item. That cost includes a three-year limited warranty, one-year free service contract and 90-day money back guarantee.
