Robolamps0

Made from existing electrical conduits, boxes, and connectors, Robert Matysiak created a unique lighting source:  Robolamps.

Pretty cool, huh?  There are many different styles of Robolamp, each made by hand.  Designed to emit low light, these little creations are more for decoration than illumination.  They can handle a 40W-bulb maximum; anything above this may cause overheating.  Using an LED light might allow for more illumination without the risk.

Robolamps can be purchased through Etsy for $70 to $220, depending on the complexity of the design.

I think that a few of these little lamps in certain rooms in the house (such as the kid’s room, maybe the bathroom, and perhaps situated in a corner of the living room) would make for interesting conversation pieces.  The retro-style is reminiscent of film robots such as Robby from Forbidden Planet.

Matysiak and his team build Robolamps in Croatia, which means that the power plug on the lamps is rated for German standard.  An adapter would be necessary for use in the United States.

Where would you put a Robolamp in your house?
