Best Home Improvement Blogs – and a Giveaway!71

I took a break during the holidays, but now that I’m back in my routine – it’s Friday and it’s time to share some of my favorite blogs with you.

1916 Home: Anna and Dave hit some important milestones recently:  post #500 on their blog and 200 lbs of produce from their SoCa garden!  Not such good news on the plummeting value of their home, though.  Pay them a visit to join in the conversation.

Stucco House[Front+of+House+Blog.jpg]Another milestone:  congratulations to Stucco House who just celebrated six years of blogging!  She says, “The blog and you, the readers, have been my therapist, teacher, professional advisor, support system, cheerleading team, and creative outlet.  That’s an awful lot to ask of one little blog.”  Though, I have to say I agree with Blogger – time to change the background.

Life in the Prairie Box:   This post lists 150 things that got outta the house on the journey to simplify.  When I’m overwhelmed with my messes around the house, I try to put away 3 things a day.  And sometimes when I have no idea where to begin paring, I say to myself, “Give away 10 items.”  So, I’m impressed with 15o!  Maybe my goal will be to move 150 things out of my house by, say, Valentine’s Day.  Hmmm. . . .I’m thinking about that.

MiniHouseBuilder:  Here’s a kid to keep our eyes on – 16 year old Austin Hay is building himself a mini-house.

Picardy Project:  A great Before and After post. No less than 14 photos.  But Before and After what?  I’m not going to tell.  Go take a look.

And now, you read this long – here’s the giveaway – actually two giveaways in one!

I want to know about YOUR favorite blogs (other than ours). I  need you to point me in some new directions – please??   Leave a comment below with the name of a DIY or home improvement blog that you recommend.  We’ll send a $25 Home Depot gift card to one randomly chosen commenter.

We’ll also send a $25 gift card to the blog writer who is most often mentioned in our comments, and I’ll review the most popular of your choices next Friday.   Sound good?

Comments will close on Friday morning at 9AM.

Happy weekend!

How can you not go wrong with a name like Life in the Prairie Box: We all live in a box and sometimes there is holes that we need to fix and man no longer knows how to fix things. So they type online to home improvement blogs to get answers to what used to be common knowledge pre-internet days.

Hi All! I'm the current steward of DIY Alert and wanted to note that we have not been superstars about keeping the blog part of our website going, we've been focused on maintaining the best DIY events calendar in Portland. Sister Diane has been doing a FANTASTIC job keeping the blogging torch alive at Hers is the site that should get entered into the "best blog" contest. :) Do keep on as a resource for where to take classes to learn just about anything crafty! Thanks!
