Boo, hoo. We didn’t get to the next round in the Homies. But we’re good sports, and we want to send our congratulations to all the finalists.
Plus, if you take a look over at AT, you’ll see an amazing list of blogs that were nominated.
There are many blogs among the finalists that we’ve featured over here at Fix It Yourself. But today, for our Best Blogs post, we’ll point to one blog in each category that is brand new to us - and which we’re very excited to know about.
Slim Paley. Nominated in the design category, this blog combines a bit of fashion, food, furnishings, florals, faraways, and fanciful stuff (as described in Slim’s 200th post). The photos are gorgeous; we love what she calls her “color posts” which go on forever with stunning images unified by a color. A relatively new blog, we think Slim is someone to keep an eye on.
Under the Sycamore: Over here at FIY, we don’t frolic too much in the kid-blog world, but wow, the DIY section at Under the Sycamore is wonderful. This project has totally inspired me with ideas for chicken wire, and this one I’m banking for holiday presents.
Good With Style: It seems that many green design blogs are more like catalogs – a parade of product recommendations, a list of who’s making what with reclaimed or upcycled materials. I like Good with Style because in addition to great photos and inspiring product finds, author Emily Anderson has a voice. She thinks about stuff and writes thoughtful posts – like the one on January 21st about mindfulness over money. Check it out.
Technology Your Way: This blog is one of the many Life. . .Your Way blogs. The technology tips range from Thanksgiving Day apps to how to declutter your Google Reader. What’s really fun over at Life . . . Your Way is hopping from Tech to Organizing to Food to Motherhood. There’s something for everyone!
Haute Apple Pie: I like a blog with a good name, like this one, even though it took me a couple looks to figure it out. This blog is the work of Anne, Katie, and Stef. Their sensibility is modern vintage down home country sophisticated chic. Isn’t that awesome? I think their blog is about to hit the big time!
So go vote. And tell us in the comments below what new blog you discovered at Apartment Therapy this week.
